Our Most Famous Guest To Date.
During the 1800s, many literary figures based themselves in Torquay. One of our most famous visitors was the Victorian clergyman, naturalist and author Charles Kingsley (1819-1875), who stayed in the region for some time. A Blue Plaque will be unveiled to honour the Rev Charles Kingsley at Coombe Court, Babbacombe Downs Road, Torquay where he resided in 1854 as a guest of Reverend William Grey.
